Provincial People's Committee of Dak Lak issued Decision No. 2475/QD-UBND on ratifying the project of quality improvement and innovation of operation ways of the Dak Lak Museum to attract visitors and develop tourism.
Dak Lak Museum is a bright spot in effective organization of preservating and promoting cultural heritage as well as visitor services, the professional and public evaluation. It is highly appriciated by experts, reaching the standard of modern museum. However, after more than 40 years of operation, Dak Lak Museum has not developed adequately with its inherent potential, and in the situation of shortage of material facilities, document resource, photos and objects; There has been lack of service activities to serve guests so the number of visitors to the Museum has not much yet. Therefore, building and developing the project to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Dak Lak province in particular and the Central Highlands is a necessary task to meet the practical needs set out in the present period. Accordingly, Provincial People's Committee of Dak Lak assigned Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside and coordinate with the provincial departments, committees, industries of People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City and relevant units to implement the project. The project also proposes the overall objective is innovating the operation ways for Dak Lak Museum to develop comprehensively and become a cultural institution to serve the community and together with the community preserve and promote the national cultural heritage, become an agency of traditional education for the younger generation. The project also mention diversifying types of services activities towards "dynamic museum", improving quality of human resources and applying advanced technologies to the operation so that the Museum will be worth being the first-ranking National Museum recognized by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Moreover, Dak Lak Museum strives to develop into the Central Highlands Museum by 2025 and to become self-administer with one third of the operational budget by 2030. Accordingly, the specific objective of the project is to keep the position of the First-ranking National Museum, ensure the conditions for organization or hosting of national and international scientific conferences; To concentrate on studying, collecting and supplementing objects in the province and the Central Highlands region to strive to become the Central Highland Museum in 2025. In addition, invest, construct, renovate and upgrade works to diversify products and services. They consist of electric model of Buon Ma Thuot Victory (following advanced technology), outdoor spaces of exhibition and practical activities; expanding the canteen to supplement food service stylized the Central Highlands cuisine, opening souvenir shop for visitors, arranging and simplifying machine to improve the quality of managers and staff to respond the general level of the national and international. According to the objective of the project, Dak Lak Provincial Museum strives to welcome and serve nearly 250,000 visitors by 2025. That the project was approved is a favorable condition for Dak Lak Museum to take the initiative in implementing the contents to renovate operations as well as improving the quality of services for the visitors, contributing to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Dak Lak province in particular and the Central Highlands in general.
