Ea Sup district was established according to Decision No.230-CP dated on August 30th, 1977, of the Government Council regarding the division of Krong Buk into two districts named Krong Buk and Ea Sup, having the area of 176,563 hectares and a 26.3 - kilometer border adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Nowadays, Ea Sup has 29 ethnic groups living together closely and unitedly, joining hands to build and develop the economy.

The birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam marked an important turning point in the national history, leading to strong development of people's revolutionary movement.

The H’gor, the Ede’s male drum is made from a tree trunk, with its two surfaces covered with buffalo skin. The drum placed on a K’pan bench in the living room of the long stilt house is often played accompanying with a set of gongs.

By 2024, Dak Lak has discovered over 70 archaeological sites, dating back thousands of years, which is considered as an evidence of the very early presence of prehistoric residents here. An ancient culture of Dak Lak with brilliant development, spread and interference. Thousands of found various artifacts provide a large material resource for researching the history of Dak Lak. These artifacts converge the cultural quintessence of each historical period and the crystallization of labor, exploration and constant creativity of the ancients, affirming a long-standing historical and cultural tradition of Dak Lak, unique and diverse in the unity.

Recently, the specialized library of Dak Lak Museum has been innovated with effective methods, thereby attracting readers who are domestic and international students and researchers.
