Located at 02 Y Ngong Street, Tan Tien Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, in a spacious greeny campus with over one-hundred-year ancient trees, Bao Dai Palace is ancient and solid, attracting visitors at first sight.

Here before 1905 was Maison Lefévre Restaurant. In 1914, when Sabatier returned to work as a legation in Dak Lak, he chose this site to build the District Attorney's Office. In 1926, after having replaced the minister Sabatier, the minister Giran renovated and constructed the building as it is today and was called the Legation, according to the locals, called Sang Ae Prong (House of the Big Man).

In 1947, the French Government guaranteed Vinh Thuy (Bao Dai) to return home as the Head of State. Since November 1947 to around May 1948, Bao Dai came here to stay and work for nearly eight months. Then, during 1949 and 1953, Bao Dai, annually, often came here at the beginning of the rainy season to rest and hunt; therefore, this house was also called Bao Dai Palace.

National Historical Relic of Bao Dai was not only the place where major historical events of the province took place, but it also has been a beautiful architectural work on the Dak Lak plateau.

Coming to the relic, visitors will learn about the unique history and architecture of the building, about Bao Dai’s life, the last King of the Nguyen Dynasty, which is shown through the display spaces: the living room and office of Bao Dai, and the room for Nam Giao Sacrifice to Heaven

In particular, at the relic, there is also an experience room with decoration similar to Hue's royal palace, for visitors to take photos and keep good memories of the visit.

Improving the quality, renovating the form of activities to attract visitors and develop tourism, at the same time, preserving and promoting the value of historical relics in the province is one of the important goals of Dak Lak Museum. That the opening to serve visitors at Bao Dai Palace National Historic Relic helps exploit and promote potentials of the relic. Along with the display of Dak Lak Museum and Buon Ma Thuot Special National Historical Penitentiary, domestic and foreign visitors will have more wonderful experiences about the Dak Lak plateau.
